Decking Cleaning & Restoration
About this service

The Siran approach to decking restoration.

Timber decking takes a beating from the damp High Weald climate. Within a few seasons it turns silver-grey, grows algae in the shade and becomes slippery underfoot — especially on steps. Our restoration is done in two stages to suit the timber. First we clear the deck, move pots and furniture, and wash it with pressure set for the wood so the surface is cleaned without being torn up. Once it has fully dried, we apply a quality decking oil by hand and roller — boards, steps and skirting — bringing the colour back and protecting it through the wet months. Many clients book this annually, usually in late summer or early autumn, so the deck goes into winter protected and comes out ready for spring.

In East Sussex, we know the gardens, the soils and the rhythm of the year. East Sussex homeowners come to us because they want a calm, premium standard of care from a gardener who knows the area — and decking cleaning & restoration is one of the services we are most often asked for. Whether your garden is a small village plot or a generous family lawn, our approach is the same: considered work, tidy finish, honest pricing.

On the hard surfaces around Mayfield's older properties, Wealden clay holds damp against brick and stone long after the rain stops. Sandstone paths, brick paviours and north-facing patios under the village's mature trees green over quickly, and steps are usually the first place it becomes slippery. We wash at a pressure set for the material rather than blasting it.

We can fold decking restoration into a regular fortnightly or monthly visit, or carry it out as a one-off job — whichever suits you. Either way, every visit ends with the garden left clean, the green-waste taken away, and you free to enjoy the result.

05Frequently Asked

Common questions, plainly answered.

If your question isn't here, please feel welcome to call or WhatsApp — we always respond personally.

Usually two visits — one to wash, one to oil once the timber is dry. We plan the dates around the weather.

Not when it's done properly. We adjust pressure and distance for the wood, and softer timbers get a gentler wash.

Once a year is ideal for most decks in East Sussex, ideally late summer or early autumn.

Yes — Rotherfield Lane is our home base. Mayfield is genuinely our local village, not just a postcode we list.

Often — many of our regulars live in older Mayfield homes with mature, characterful gardens that need a careful, traditional approach.

Usually within a week for established services. New clients often start with a single tidy or assessment visit before agreeing a regular schedule.
